Resources and Megathread

Preface

The Order of the Bleeding Clamp is a left-hand path occultist group emerging from the Post-Occupation ultraloyalist milieu, based in Sector Seventeen with sympathizers all over the world. The Bleeding Clamp traces its origins to the 1970s, claiming participation in major historical upheavals such as the Italian Years of Lead, alongside claiming responsibility for several right-wing acts of terrorism pre-Occupation.

The Order claims to have been an offshoot of a previous international hermeto-mystic group, stating that they are only an evolution of said group, and that their outer appearance changes with time, their worship of the CMB only being a recent manifestation of a long-existing tradition. The Combine are at once perceived as extradimensional forces, powers of the abyss, and dark gods. They claim that the CMB is only a word to describe a power that is far vaster than that comprehensible to the human mind, a belief likely influenced by the speeches of Global Administrator Wallace Breen.

The Order espouses the belief in a cyclic history of aeons and high cultures, claiming to strive towards realizing the final aeon of the current cycle of human history, one that culminates in the emergence of a galactic human empire under the CMB. Furthermore, the Order believes that upon realizing the Ninth High Culture, it will transform again, retaining its esoteric teachings but metamorphizing its outer appearance. The Order believes that a crucial part of manifesting the next and final high cultural aeon is through esoteric antinomianism, the intentional violation of societal and cultural taboos in the name of spirituality and faith. As a result, the Order has often claimed responsibility for acts of gangsterism, violence, terrorism, and general moral bankruptcy.

The Order operates under a centralized command structure, with a council of magistrates handling administrative and doctrinal affairs, the head of which being the Order Commander. The current Commander of the Bleeding Clamp is reputed to be either an ex-Civil Authority or ex-Civil Protection member named 'Maximus.' The Order claims to operate from a highly mysticized and concealed base of operations colloquially referred to as the Nerve Centre. Despite its centralization, the Bleeding Clamp promotes the idea of a personal inner journey of discovery, one that is reached through meditation, arduous physical challenges, and the breaking of taboos.

The Bleeding Clamp in Garrison 314

The Order, whose basic organizational unit is a coterie, exercises some level of sway over 314 through DEFENDER-4's Black Clasp Coterie, which has been present alongside the garrison since Azov. Despite long periods of hibernation and inactivity, the OBC has managed to gain a foothold in membership following the fallout of Geneva, likely owing to new functionaries unfamiliar with the shaky past the Order has had with the garrison, alongside desperation from the loss of the CMB's Crown Jewel.

The doctrine of antinomianism that characterizes the Bleeding Clamp has seen excessive use, from branding CMB prisoners to sending infected corpses into enemy territory, the latter of which resulting in a personal challenge from Harland Roscha, Ørsted Commander, to fisticuffs. Roscha left battered, bruised, and defeated. Alongside external displays of disregard for taboos, members of the Coterie often make recreational use of a variety of synthetic oils, claiming to use them to further their perennial (or spiritual) insights.

Order-Overwatch relations, at least within the garrison, appear to be that of an uneasy tolerance of the latter for the former. So long as functionaries who claim affinity with the teachings of Maximus remain in good standing, further the goals of the CMB, and do not intentionally hinder operational integrity, it seems their continued existence will be assured. For some functionaries, the Order is a blight upon their service, with at least one hostile group forming in direct response to its presence. Human-infused rations are the least offensive of those rumors laid against the Black Clasp Coterie, with disappearances of functionaries occasionally attributed to DEFENDER-4's group.

As Garrison 314 comes to terms with the Mandate in retreat, the decline of living conditions, and their restless deployments to stabilize regions too infected to save, it only seems natural more are poised to fall into the maw of radicalism, perhaps in the vain hope that they will find justification for their choices and crimes, or community in a garrison becoming increasingly polarized. In the words of one post-Occupation scholar, "These servants of a dying empire, who have passed on every opportunity to defect, set to lose their humanity in the process of transhumanization, seem to me more insane in refuting Ultraloyalism than embracing it. They are insane, so to speak, for not being insane."
