Finley Sandersburg, a long-time city V swindler in the wake of war, enlisted as a pioneer to avoid drafting and defected to the rebel side at the very end, terrified of the augmentations given to others and his eventual full forced conscription. He ended up claiming victory and finally getting a comb to fix his hair.

Iannotti Dyott, a former loyalist of City 24, defected in wake of the riots of City 8 and was captured when going to look for a friend. In shame, he confessed everything he knew and became a Penal soldier, slowly falling to depression realizing he had gone back to his ways of subservience. After his abandonment at the loss of the war, he is foraging alone, vowing to never show his face again.
