THE EUROPEAN UNION RESISTS!

BRUSSELS, CITY-101 - Riots sprout across Europe as the Progenitor Arm stationed in Brussels, City-101 has officially seized the Europa Building, as part of the on-going dissolution process of the European Union. The political agenda of the Unitary Council in unifying institutions across the globe has faced grave scrutiny from politicians and critics alike. Although the United States of America has officially ceded and subjugated its Cabinet and Senate per demands of the Treaty of Sol III.
Many have gone forward to accuse the Unitary Council of being an American puppet, which actively promotes and pursues American imperialism; the Unitary Council has denounced such accusations. However, this has not stopped the Members of the European Parliament from taking matters into their own hands, and temporarily relocating the Headquarters of the European Union to unoccupied Geneva in defiance of the dissolution process. Moreover, in light of the recent developments, the European Parliament recently established its own military task force in hopes of preventing further attempts at stamping out its existence.

WASHINGTON - As politicians clash, the global economy crashes into historic depression; surpassing the crippling effects of the Great Depression in 1929. The collapse of the international shipping lane, the Portal Storms, and the Seven Hour War are all cited by economists as primary reasons for the total global economic collapse. In the last six months, thousands of businesses have reportedly filed for bankruptcy as poor supply networks starve the industry, the riots devastate the commercial districts, and hostile alien wildlife threaten the workforce. As a result, the unemployment rate in Eastern America has reached as high as 78%.
No official records have been provided for Western America and Central America as contact with the United States Consensus Bureau has recently been severed. Furthermore, much like other foreign currencies like the Pound Sterling, the Yen, and the Euro, the trust and strength in the American dollar has plummeted into a state of limbo. The dissolution of the United States of Government and the Federal Reserve has brought confusion regarding the value and recognition of the currency. Due to the lack of consensus regarding the value of the American dollar, the large portion of the population has resulted in bartering for goods.
However, residents under the influence of the Patriots for Free America may find themselves forced to utilise the American dollar as a form of currency despite its perceived inflated state.

THE COLLAPSE OF A HEGEMONY

BEIJING, CITY-560 - On the 18th of December, 2003, the Unitary Council seized Beijing as part of its unification campaign. However, the remnants of the Communist Party of China have attempted to violently challenge the occupation through unsuccessful attacks on the Progenitor Arm. This feeble attempt at destabilisation caused a civil war to unfold in the former regions of China; as previously suppressed and censored elements like the People for Democratic China and Movement for Nationalist China have sought to utilise this opportunity to strike back against the Communist Party of China.
An incident occurred within the Korean Demilitarised Zone, as unsuspecting migrants fleeing from North Korea try their luck by crossing the 38th Parallel line. Remnants of the North Korean Army still operate and actively protect the border against trespassers and intruders-alike. This resulted in several civilian fatalities that were unfortunate to stumble upon a patrol or wander into one of the many minefields scattered across the border. In light of the incident, several civilian militias formed with the intention of eradicating the remnants of the North Korean Army, as well as control the local hostile alien wildlife.
